1 cup sugar
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and vanilla. Blend in the remaining ingredients. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake in 8x8-inch pan at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Testing comment: Great with frosting.
