Ground Beef Cracked Wheat Casserole

1 lb. hamburger
1/2 onion or 2 tablespoons dried onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup cracked wheat, uncooked
1 can tomato soup
dash of pepper

Pour boiling water over cracked wheat. Brown onions and meat in a fry pan, using a little more fat if necessary. Add salt and pepper. Add soaked wheat. Add soup and poultry seasoning and mix thoroughly. Place in a greased casserole dish and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Testing comment: My kids loved this. Next time I will double the recipe. Be sure not to drain the water off the wheat. It cooks out in the oven.

Wow! Thanks again for a bunch of great sounding recipes. I especially like your "testing comment" about the recipes you've tried. I've always been intimidated about making doughnuts. Maybe, I'll try making them now.:)

Thanks Joyce! The testing comments are actually ones that are included in the cookbook. I haven't had the chance to try them myself yet. It is nice to know what someone who did try it thought about it. :)

Those doughnuts do sound delicious! I've never made them myself. I may have to give it a try, too.

Have a great day! :)
